SIA Convention Highlight!
The 47th SIA Convention was a highlight this past month. The event was virtual allowing many who could not travel to be there for the whole experience. The virtual doors opened allowing members to tour the hall from the theatre, to on-line chats and the Convention Store. SIA did a fabulous job of creating a wonderful member experience. From the opening Flag Ceremony to the closing artist, it was a fun and informative two days.
The keynote speaker for the event was Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai and her presentation was a candid chat with SIA President Kazuko Morita and President-elect Stephanie Smith; what an inspiring young woman seeking to ensure all girls have an opportunity for education. Her goals really align with our mission to provide women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment .
One of the highlights of the convention for me was when Founder Region Past Governor Bobbi Enderlin received her SIA President-elect pin. I know that all of us in Founder Region are very proud of Bobbi and we are looking forward to her continuing leadership over the next couple of years.
Clubs that went dark for the summer will begin meeting soon – our new normal is some virtual, some in-person. However your clubs chooses to meet, continue to follow the mission and help women and girls achieve their dreams and goals. And we can all continue to “Bee the Dream!”.
